Matthew Marshall and m & s Marshall Productions have added a new character to the evolving story of the Marshall’s newest short film Malicious Attack. When asked why the new character was added when the film is half shot Marshall offered this. “As we have got further into filming more stories are coming out from people I have talked to dealing with Bullying it was time to add this part to the story line. Honestly this character was in the original script. But was cut for various reasons.”  Says Marshall. Now with the film half filmed Marshall felt to add the story line back in, especially when an opportunity presented itself.

The opportunity came when a young London area nursing student who loves acting showed interest in being a part of the film. Dina Jasim who is in the Western Fanshawe Nursing program and is originally from Baghdad, brings some interesting perspective to the film. With training to be a nurse she knows people that have been on the receiving end of bullying. That coupled with her only having been in Canada a limited number of years has made her ideal for the role Marshall is putting back into the film. That of a Arab based immigrant named Linda Tai who is being bullied at the high school that the story of Malicious Attack takes place. In fact her bully is the same person that Bullies the main character in the film Naomi Spencer who is played by Katie Ostojic.  “It opens another door to show a different form of bullying and how this character reacts to it. My goal is to present different ways that people from various backgrounds deal with the social issue of bullying and suffer through the same things regardless of skin colour, background or culture” adds Marshall

Dina is happy to have joined the cast.  She comes to the project with a background of working with people and personal desire to want to help people who are suffering in some way. She is gifted with a healing and nurturing heart and is striving to put those skills to use in the future as a nurse.  She has seen people around her struggle with the effects of bullying in their lives and has a desire through working on this film to help bring a light to the issue of bullying as well as gain a better personal understand herself of what those who have been the victims of bullying have gone through. Dina comes to this project with a love for the craft of acting and having been previously a part of the play Immigrants to Canada. She looks forward to entering the world of film acting and she is very excited to have the honour to be a part of the cast of Malicious Attack.
