The dramatic short film is directed by Matthew Marshall, the award winning director and co-owner of m & s Marshall productions. The film is produced under the banner of his company m & s Marshall Productions, in association with IME Films.
Marshall says the film takes a twist on the traditional bully story line as at its heart it is a ‘good girl gone bad’ due to being bullied. The bully of the story Savannah (Elina Lattanzio) not only bullies “the Good Girl” Naomi but also the “outcast” Raven, the “Pregnant Teen”, Sara and the “immigrant” in Linda. Each of these characters has a different reaction and response to the bullying they experience. Naomi becomes the relentless target of the bullying by Savannah while Naomi’s best friend Macey tries to find ways to help Naomi expose the bullying, but Naomi is unwilling to come forward. The Attacks on Naomi continue till she is pushed to a breaking point.
Marshall offers this on the topic of bullying in the film, “I think we all have seen bullying in some form or another regardless of our ages. Everyone knows someone who has been bullied. It happens every day and it affects everyone. This story gives lots of opportunity to discuss the issue of bullying and the reactions of those that are bullied” says Marshall.
It is Marshall’s hope as well as the hope of the entire cast and crew that the film will teach audiences why bully awareness does not only refer to awareness in the public eye. “ Bullying awareness means awareness of specific incidents to authority figures, awareness of bystanders in their role and awareness of the bullies themselves of the potential gravity of their actions”, says Lattanzio.
Marshall says this is the first of a few trailers for the film. Even though the film is in editing marshall still released the trailer. Which for some would say it’s too early to release before the film is edited. Marshall comment on that thought. “Yes it is early but several opportunities had come up needed a trailer for the film dealing with promotion and the public interest in the film also demanded it.
The cast includes; Katie Ostojic, Morgan Flanagan, Elina Lattanzio, Marley Cabral, Helena Rose, Mary Ellen Herder, Corina Leatherdale, Aaliyah Paul, Judy Cormier, Dina Jasim, Max Steinberg, Elizabeth Harden, Tiandra Edwards, Ian James Smith, April Booth, Kayla Hope Felker, Lesley Chapman, Jamie Rainbird, Serena Webber, Brooklyn Pritchard, Kailey Dennis, Mallaidh Pouti, Melissa Ramos, Jerry Ziler, Kyra Ramos, Kendal Cabral, Rob Herder, Tracey Bell, Emma Lee Willsie and Talitha Wood
Marshall hopes when the film is done is to get it into schools and teen groups to help open up discussion and dialogue about the issue of bullying.
