The Western Smartphone film Festival is just one week away and will feature m & s Marshall Productions co-owner and award winning film maker Matthew Marshall as one of the festival Judges and film panelist. Marshall along with several other industry professionals from London Ontario will make up the panel that will judge the top ten films submitted. The festival will be held on Saturday February 10th on the Western University Campus.
The Western Smartphone Film Festival is a student-run organization at Western University and is focused on developing youth in the field of film and entertainment by means of an annual smartphone short film festival. With a focus on inclusivity and garnishing Canada’s diverse and talented student population. The festival uses the smartphone as a platform to allow a broad range of students to explore their creativity and further fuel their passion for the arts.
The festival will begin at 1:30 and run till 4pm. It will take place on the 2nd floor of the university community centre. There are two themes for this year: good vs. evil and the origin story!
The format for the day will be an introduction, followed by 5 of the films then a short intermission. After the intermission there will be a film panel Q & A in which Matthew Marshall will be part of the panel for a 30 minute discussion. Following the panel the other five films of the top ten. Then the Audience choice voting and giveaway announcements will be announced. Followed by the top three films of the festival. The festivities will wrap up with a reception where the public will be able to interact with the panel and the film makers.
